Kennedy is a Master’s level student at Antioch University Seattle in the Mental Health Counseling program with a specialization in Substance Use and Addiction. Prior to studying at Antioch, Kennedy majored in Psychology and double-minored in Family Studies and Nutrition at Central Washington University. Kennedy’s experience includes providing counseling services at the Antioch Community, Counseling, and Psychology, volunteering with at-risk youth at Youth Services of Kittitas County and with adult women facing homelessness at Mary’s Place in Seattle. Kennedy works with a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, low self-esteem, codependency, addiction recovery, compulsive behavior, and trauma. Kennedy is under the clinical supervision of Sonja Rudie, MA, LMHC, CSAT-S.*

Luis is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a 10 year Veteran of the United States Army who spent time working with teams needing base support abroad. Luis has worked with many different cultural backgrounds as well as those with differing spiritual beliefs. His experience includes working within the psychiatric community in both inpatient and outpatient Community Mental Health. Luis provides EMDR and Dialectic Behavioral Skills to his clients. Luis joins the La Perla Counseling team with specialties in treating trauma for adults, adolescents and children. Luis specializes in the treatment of LGBTQI+ issues. He leads our DBT Skills Treatment Group, Men's Seeking Safety Group, and Transgender Seeking Safety Group. Luis is also trained in the Flash Technique of EMDR. 


EMDR Therapist, Specializing in Trauma-Focused CBT Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy for Couples

Phoenix is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and is able to provide counseling in Mandarin and English. She also knows Japanese to bridge the language barrier. Phoenix specializes in working with children with anxiety and behavioral issues, married couples struggling with relational intimacy, and adult women who are natural caretakers for others but have a hard time caring for their own needs. She has worked with people from diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds and has a keen interest in multicultural counseling. Phoenix also leads a Self-Esteem Group for women. Phoenix is under the supervision of Sonja Rudie, MA, LMHC, CSAT-S.


Certified EMDR Therapist, Practicing in both Washington and Kansas

Specializing in working with college aged women and adults abused as children, Danielle is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience providing support and safety for survivors of Domestic Violence, and training as a chemical dependency professional working with individuals, families, and groups in an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment setting. Danielle also has experience support a non-profit focused on creating pathways to freedom for women escaping human trafficking. Danielle offers tele-medicine for clients based in Washington State from La Perla Counseling's affiliate office in Kansas.


Specializing in Attachment Focused EMDR and Intimacy Skills Buildling

Steve is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor trained as an Attachment Focused EMDR therapist by Laurel Parnell, PhD. Steve specializes in mending attachments and treating problematic sexual behavior. He facilitates the Bellevue Men and Women's Health Groups providing therapy for those struggling with intimacy, self worth, shame and vulnerability. Steve draws from Brene Brown's work to help clients embrace their story, achieve healing, and foster resiliency. He is a member of the Parnell EMDR Institute and a certified EMDR clinician. Steve is also trained in the Flash Technique of EMDR.

Sonja is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified EMDR Therapist, an Approved Consultant with EMDRIA & The Parnell EMDR Institute, a Washington State Clinical Supervisor, and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor. She is a seasoned therapist who specializes in treating trauma, stress, addictions, and sexually betrayed Partners. Sonja is the President, Founder, and Clinical Director of La Perla Counseling & Trauma Response Services, Inc. She is a core faculty member of the Parnell EMDR Institute, which provides professional training and consultation for therapists. Sonja is a contributing author of two books: Mending a Shattered Heart and Clergy Sexual Misconduct.


Accountant and Bookkeeper

Sharon obtained a Degree in Accounting from Linfield College, and has been the bookkeeper and accountant at La Perla Counseling & Trauma Response Services, Inc. for over ten years. Sharon enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren, and travelling to tropical lands with her family.
